As Marianas Trench fans know, Josh loves to allude/call back to previous songs/albums. This has been this case since their second album, Masterpiece Theatre. In this post I will highlight every reference made in Phantoms. Phantoms is Marianas Trench's latest album, with a much different theme from their previous work, yet still staying true to the type of music they've always made. Additionally, I'm going to also include some other interesting allusions to other songs/literature that you may have missed. A lot of Edgar Allen Poe references/inspirations as evident on this album.

Thank you all so much for reading! I'm always open to suggestions for the next post.

Hello Trenchers, welcome to Apple Music Reviews' very own Marianas Trench blog! My name is Christian, and I run the Apple Music Reviews page/website. Marianas Trench has been my favorite band since the second I discovered them in 2014. One of the reasons I decided to create Apple Music Reviews was so I could express my love for the band and give more opportunity for people to get into their music. Marianas Trench is so severely underrated that it is at times frustrating, yet has probably the most passionate cult following of any band in the world. In fact, some of their songs definitely stack up against songs that are considering some of the greatest of all time, with timeless songs like End of an Era, The Killing Kind, Astoria, the list goes on, although such a small amount of people have listened to these songs in comparison to what is presently charting.
Yes it's true, Marianas Trench has not become a mainstream band or a household name, but at the same time, I am sort of grateful for that. Because at the end of the day, music is music, and you shouldn't just be listening to it because it's popular or your friends like it. Sometimes music can be a very private thing for you, but at the same time, you want to share it with other people, and I think this blog is an excellent representation of that passion. Stay tuned for new posts! |
